For the first time in Lebanon’s history, Lebanese modern pentathletes stood on the podium at a World Championship, achieving a historic Bronze Medal in the Mixed Relay Laser Run at the Biathle, Triathle & Laser Run World Championships 2025 in Mossel Bay, South Africa. This landmark achievement represents a proud milestone for Lebanese modern pentathlon and reflects the remarkable progress of the national team on the international stage.
The Lebanese team competed at the championship from December 8 to December 13, delivering a series of strong performances against some of the world’s top nations. The competition opened on December 8 with the Biathle Mixed Relay, where Team Lebanon showed great determination and competitiveness in a highly challenging field.

On December 9, the athletes took part in the Biathle Individual Race (800m run – 200m swim – 800m run), with Ahmad Shamas finishing in 16th place and Marina Fenianos achieving an impressive 14th place, both demonstrating strong swimming and running performances under demanding conditions.

On December 10, Marina Fenianos and Ahmad Shamas competed in the Triathle Mixed Relay, finishing in an excellent 4th place among some of the strongest countries in the championship. Their performance reflected a high level of preparation across shooting, running, and swimming disciplines.

The competition continued on December 11 with the Individual Triathle races, where Marina Fenianos delivered an outstanding result by finishing 6th, a remarkable achievement for an athlete relatively new to modern pentathlon at this level.

The historic breakthrough came on December 12, when Team Lebanon secured the Bronze Medal in the Mixed Relay Laser Run, competing against elite nations among more than 1,800 athletes from 40 countries, firmly placing Lebanon among the world’s competitive modern pentathlon nations.

The championship concluded on December 13 with the Individual Laser Run, where Marina Fenianos achieved an excellent 5th place finish, despite the physical demands of five consecutive days of competition, confirming her consistency, endurance, and competitive strength.

Overall, Lebanon’s participation reflected exceptional progress, resilience, and the ability to compete at the highest international level, leaving a lasting and historic mark at the World Championships in South Africa.
