Conclusion of the International Level 1 Modern Pentathlon Coaches Course in Lebanon

The Lebanese Modern Pentathlon Federation successfully concluded a five-day International Level 1 Coaches Course, aimed at developing and qualifying Lebanese coaches in line with the latest international technical and training standards. The course combined both theoretical and practical components and was supervised by international coach Mr. Yasser Hefny, delegated by the International Modern Pentathlon Federation.

The course concluded with an official certificate distribution ceremony held at the headquarters of the Lebanese Olympic Committee, during which certificates were awarded to 24 participating coaches. The ceremony was attended by Mr. Jack Tamer, Vice President of the Lebanese Olympic Committee, representing the Committee’s President Dr. Pierre Jalkh; Secretary General Retired Brigadier General Hassan Rostom; Executive Committee Member Eng. Wassim Ismail; in addition to members of the Lebanese Modern Pentathlon Federation.

The ceremony was hosted by Treasurer and Grand Master Bassam Cheiban, who highlighted the Federation’s continuous efforts to develop the sport and promote its core values. He emphasized the importance of investing in the education and qualification of coaching staff as a key foundation for sustainable growth and long-term success.

Following the Lebanese National Anthem, a documentary film was presented, showcasing the activities and achievements of the Lebanese Modern Pentathlon Federation.

International coach Mr. Yasser Hefny then delivered a speech in which he expressed his admiration for the high technical level, commitment, and discipline demonstrated by the Lebanese coaches throughout the five days of training. He noted that his experience in Lebanon ranked among the best he has encountered during his international coaching assignments worldwide.

In his address, President of the Lebanese Modern Pentathlon Federation, Eng. Roukoz Zgheib, reviewed the Federation’s most notable achievements over the past eleven months, including:

  • The Lebanese Women’s National Team winning the West Asia Championship, securing four gold medals and one silver medal.
  • Achieving third place at the World Championship in South Africa, accompanied by official commendation from the International Federation for the team’s outstanding performance.
  • Participation in nine international competitions and the organization of five national championships during the same period.

Eng. Zgheib also extended special recognition to champions Marina Fenianos and Ahmad Shamas, as well as to the Head of the Lebanese delegation at the World Championships in South Africa, Mr. Ali Mcheik, praising their achievements and their contribution to elevating Lebanon’s presence on the international sporting stage.

On his part, Mr. Jack Tamer delivered a speech on behalf of the President of the Lebanese Olympic Committee, commending the efforts of the Lebanese Modern Pentathlon Federation and emphasizing the importance of cooperation, unity, and joint action in serving Lebanese sports and athletes.

The event concluded with the distribution of internationally certified certificates, officially signed by the International Modern Pentathlon Federation, to the participating coaches, followed by a reception held in celebration of the occasion.
