The Lebanese Modern Pentathlon Federation proudly concluded a remarkable participation at the 2026 West Asian Biathle & Triathle Championships, held in Jeddah, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, from 14 to 17 January 2026, with an outstanding total of six medals, reaffirming Lebanon’s growing presence in regional modern pentathlon competitions.

The Lebanese delegation departed from Beirut–Rafic Hariri International Airport to compete in the prestigious regional championship, led by:

• Head of Delegation: Eng. Roukoz Zgheib, President of the Lebanese Modern Pentathlon Federation
• Delegation Administrator: Ms. Nadia Nehme, Secretary General
• Coach: Mr. Mohammad Merhi
• Athletes: Ahmad Shamas, Marina Fenianos, and Mohammad Ali Akil

Outstanding Performances in the Biathle Competition

The opening day of the championship saw Lebanon make a spectacular start to the 2026 season, securing three medals in the Biathle events:

• Gold Medal – Marina Fenianos – Senior Women’s Category
• Gold Medal – Ahmad Shamas – Senior Men’s Category
• Bronze Medal – Mohammad Ali Akil – Under-17 Men’s Category

These exceptional results marked an impressive beginning to the championship and highlighted the athletes’ dedication and high level of preparation.

Continued Success in the Triathle Competition

Lebanon’s momentum continued on the second day during the Triathle events, where the team added three more medals to its tally:

• Silver Medal – Marina Fenianos – Senior Women’s Category
• Bronze Medal – Ahmad Shamas – Senior Men’s Category
• Gold Medal – Mohammad Merhi – Masters Men’s Category

The combined performances across both disciplines brought Lebanon’s total medal count to six medals, reflecting the Federation’s continuous progress and competitiveness at the regional level.

Commenting on the team’s performance, the Lebanese Modern Pentathlon Federation praised the athletes, coach, and delegation members for their commitment, professionalism, and determination throughout the championship.
