The Executive Committee of the West Asian Modern Pentathlon Federation held its fourth meeting on Friday, 3 July 2026, in Manama, Kingdom of Bahrain, with the attendance of all committee members. The Lebanese Modern Pentathlon Federation was represented by its President, Eng. Roukoz Zougheib.
Following the discussion and approval of the meeting agenda, Eng. Zougheib raised the issue of the challenges and administrative obstacles faced by the Lebanese Modern Pentathlon Federation in its dealings with the Lebanese Ministry of Youth and Sports. He presented official documents and supporting evidence outlining the difficulties encountered by the Federation and the adverse impact on its affiliated clubs as a result of the application of technical requirements that, according to the Federation, do not align with the international technical standards established by the International Modern Pentathlon Union (UIPM).
After reviewing the matter, the West Asian Modern Pentathlon Federation unanimously expressed its full support for the Lebanese Federation and resolved to stand by it before the relevant Lebanese and international authorities. The Executive Committee emphasized its commitment to supporting a federation that has made significant contributions to the development and promotion of modern pentathlon at the national, regional, and international levels and has earned the respect and recognition of the international sporting community.
The committee members also praised the Lebanese Federation’s international achievements and the rapid growth of modern pentathlon in Lebanon. They further committed to referring the matter to both the Asian Modern Pentathlon Confederation and the International Modern Pentathlon Union (UIPM) and to taking the necessary steps to safeguard the rights of the Lebanese Federation and protect the interests of its athletes.
